Show your Support: Doc Killian Music Available Now!
Every now and then, we have the privilege of recognizing real Americans supporting their country, their veterans and their troops in their own, creative means. We have recently come across one such patriot: Doc Killian, a 45 year old factory worker, who has spent about 20 years working in factories after serving 7 years as a U.S. Army Medic.
Inspired by bluegrass standards, Doc decided to learn how to write and play music, practicing daily. His determination lead him to record his first CD “The Factory Worker”, at WSDS Radio in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he met and became good friends with Bobby “Swampgrass” Anderson. Bobby was one of “The Westerners”, (the band that started Mel Tillis in his career in Okinawa in the 1950s). Bobby and Doc worked together on Doc’s next 2 CDs “Red, White & BlueCollar” and “Blue Collar Business Suit”. After a successful launch of those albums, Doc started recording the 4th album “Boss And Work Are 4-Letter Words” with William Davis, a fellow worker and musician of 35 years.
Doc’s latest endeavor is part of a compilation album entitled “A Tribute To Veterans”, a 17 track album with various artists honoring the men and women who have served and are still serving. All proceeds of the sale of this CD are being donated to Veterans organizations.
As a true worker and artisan, Doc receives no financial backing whatsoever to support his musical endeavors, yet he continues to give to the community which he so adores. He has repeatedly donated his music for care packages to be sent around the world in order to inspire and support our troops and veterans. The lyrics to two of Doc’s songs, “To Our Troops” and “My Flag”, are currently being sent to Iraq in care packages by hundreds of his friends on MySpace, where he has gained a small following of supporters.
Currently though, Doc is receiving no sales of his music yet he is striving to continue on with his mission of bringing music with meaning to and for our troops and veterans. In order for Doc to continue, he needs to make some sales on his music, which can be purchased at his site here. He has already written 6 songs for a new album, but cannot go into production with them until he is able to support himself.
True patriots like Doc Killian are something to cherish. If you are able to, please visit Doc on his website, or visit him on MySpace and inquire on purchasing his music. Even more, help spread the word so that he and others like him can continue to support our nation’s troops and veterans with their talents.
